Peer Reviewer Process

Every manuscript submitted to TheraNur: Physiotherapy and Nursing Journal undergoes a rigorous peer review process to ensure scientific quality, academic integrity, and compliance with the journal’s publication standards.

The journal applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

The peer review process consists of the following stages:

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. Submitted manuscripts must comply with the journal’s focus and scope, author guidelines, and official manuscript template.

2. Initial Screening

The Managing Editor conducts an initial evaluation to verify manuscript completeness, formatting, metadata accuracy, similarity check results, and the submission of all required supporting documents.

Manuscripts that are incomplete or do not conform to the journal’s formatting requirements may be returned to the authors for revision before proceeding to the next stage. Community service articles are not considered for review because they fall outside the journal’s accepted article types.

3. Editorial Screening

The Editor evaluates the manuscript based on its relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, originality, scientific quality, methodological soundness, and compliance with publication ethics.

Manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s scope, including community service articles, or those with significant ethical concerns may be rejected without being sent for peer review.

4. Reviewer Assignment

Eligible manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject area. Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications, research experience, subject expertise, independence, and the absence of any conflicts of interest.

5. Peer Review

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to physiotherapy and/or nursing
  • Originality and scientific contribution
  • Clarity of research objectives
  • Appropriateness of the research methodology
  • Quality of data analysis
  • Clarity and presentation of results
  • Depth and quality of the discussion
  • Appropriateness of the conclusions
  • Quality and accuracy of citations and references
  • Compliance with publication ethics

Based on their evaluation, reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

  • Accept Submission
  • Revisions Required
  • Resubmit for Review
  • Resubmit Elsewhere
  • Decline Submission

6. Editorial Decision

The Editor carefully considers the reviewers’ comments and recommendations before making an editorial decision. Possible decisions include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, resubmission for further review, or rejection.

The final decision regarding manuscript acceptance rests with the Editor-in-Chief, taking into account the recommendations of both the editors and reviewers.

7. Manuscript Revision

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the comments provided by the editors and reviewers. A detailed response letter explaining how each comment has been addressed must accompany the revised submission.

8. Copyediting and Production

Accepted manuscripts proceed through copyediting, language editing, layout formatting, proofreading, and final quality control to ensure consistency and publication readiness.

9. Publication

After successfully completing all editorial and production stages, manuscripts are scheduled for publication in the appropriate journal issue. All published articles are made freely available through the journal website under the journal’s open access policy.
